Poem: College

College
By: Quina Parchment

We are sent
            through hallways and staircases
(then up ladders to window-sealed office spaces)
            as an ignorant, illiterate flock
            into the mouths of twisted,
                        hungry wolves
                        with shiny, pearly teeth

Most of us not sheep, but goats with itching ears
Graduate as wolves, proud to be a part of the pack
Some of us wolves in sheep clothing
Trained by the elders to teach seductive deception
Very few of us feeble sheep,
            Prone to stray
            Foolish and weak
            Helpless, except

Our Good Shepherd protects us,
Laid His life down for His sheep
                        To pick it up again,
Will not allow us to be plucked
                        From His mighty hand
His Father chose us to be
                        vessels by which He
                                    would  confound the wise, strong,
and things that are in this world
That no flesh could boast in His presence
To do this gave Him pleasure

But we are killed all the day long
And lined up for the slaughter
Where is our Shepherd?
To the right of His Father, sitting
His work for us complete, but interceding,
Waiting to return and gather our scattered bodies
While we groan,
We count it all joy to fellowship in our Shepherd’s sufferings
Soon we will know
The fullness of His joy, incomparable glory
May we learn and trust You
Whose Word, firmly fixed in the heavens,
Is our praise, and depicts the greatest story:
Jesus Christ,
Pearl of immeasurable price
Wisdom personified
Grace and truth

Forgive our world’s leaders and university teachers
For they know not what they do.

God's Glory in Life & Death

Watching this, along with seeing my sis in Christ Adrienne trust God in her very serious suffering right now, makes me realize that I am not qualified to speak about suffering as one who has "been there" and persevered. I pray only to trust Him wholeheartedly when my next trial comes, glorifying Him in life and death.

Watch Both Videos Here

"I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." - Philippians 1:20-21

Surprise 22nd Bday

For the third year in a row, I was very easily surprised by friends in celebration of my birthday. This time, my roommates told me that we were going to go to Lettuce Lake Park to have a quiet time together. When we got there, a bunch of my friends popped out from behind the trees smiling. :) What a blessing it is to be in the Body of Christ, to have genuine friendships that point me to my Savior, and to enjoy Florida springtime weather. I don't deserve any of it, but I'm so thankful for it.

I was so confused...

The Will of God?

"...expecting God to reveal some hidden will of direction is an invitation to disappointment and indecision. Trusting in God's will of decree is good. Following His will of desire is obedient. Waiting for God's will of direction is a mess. It is bad for your life, harmful to your sanctification, and allows too many Christians to be passive thinkers who strangely feel more spiritual the less they actually do." (pg. 26)

Evangelism Time Today

It's easy to preach with a mic / but I'm slow of speech like Moses when I'm toe to toe in the streets right?
